GAIP Announces Appointment of New Board of Directors

The Global Asia Insurance Partnership (GAIP) has announced the appointment of new members to its Board of Directors, effective September 11, 2023.

These appointments underscore GAIP's commitment to strengthening its leadership team and working towards our mission. The newly appointed board members bring a wealth of experience, which will strengthen GAIP's strategic direction and governance.

  • Shekaran Krishnan, Partner, Assurance Services, Ernst & Young LLP

Shekaran has been a Partner with Ernst & Young since 2005. He is a member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and a member of CPA Australia. He is also a member of the Accounting Standards Committee in Singapore and Medishield Life Council. He is also on the Board of The Esplanade Co. Ltd. and on the Board of Trustees of Singapore University of Social Sciences.

  • Choo Oi San, Singapore Country Leader, Division Leader (South Asia and Emerging Markets), WTW

Oi San has over 25 years of diverse experience in insurance consulting and business experience covering the Asia Pacific region. She is a leader in the insurance consulting space, in addition to serving on numerous actuarial committees and insurance education boards. She was formerly the Chairperson of the ASEAN Actuarial Talent Development Working Party and was an Academic Board Member of the Singapore College of Insurance.

  • Pamela Yeo, General Counsel, AIG (APAC)

Pamela is responsible for corporate governance, legal and regulatory affairs of the general insurance business operations and services entities across seventeen geographies and jurisdictions at AIG. Throughout her career with AIG, Pamela has served as a chairperson and as a member of various boards and board committees of AIG Insurance entities across the region. She currently sits on the board of AIG Asia Pacific Insurance as a non-executive director.

  • Wong Sze Keed, Chief Executive Officer, AIA

Sze Keed is responsible for overseeing and managing AIA's operations in the market to champion the concept of healthier, longer, better lives for all Singaporeans. Sze Keed has close to 30 years of experience in the financial services industry in Singapore and has held a broad range of senior management roles during her career. Under her leadership, AIA Singapore's agency business has gone from strength-to-strength achieving the highest number of MDRT-registered members in Singapore for five consecutive years.

  • Tracy Lee-Kus, Head of Commercial Risk, Aon

Tracy leads a team of experts in providing innovative and tailored risk solutions to clients across the Asia Pacific region. With over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, she has a deep knowledge of general and commercial insurance, as well as a strong network of relationships with underwriters, brokers, and regulators. Tracy is also passionate about developing and mentoring the next generation of insurance professionals, and fostering a culture of collaboration, diversity, and excellence.

  • John Zhu, Chief Economist Asia, Swiss Re

Before joining Swiss Re, John was the Senior Global Economist at Haitong International Securities. He has worked on both the buy-side and sell-side in London and Hong Kong with HSBC, Legal & General and Pimco. John was also previously a central banker with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, which included a secondment as a Visiting Economist at the Bank for International Settlements. 

GAIP's CEO, John Maroney, expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointments, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome our new board of directors. Their collective experience and skill sets align perfectly with our strategic vision for the future. We believe that their leadership will be instrumental in driving GAIP to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead."

As we welcome the new Board of Directors, it is also essential to acknowledge and express our profound gratitude to the outgoing directors who have made invaluable contributions to GAIP during their tenure.

The newly appointed board members will work closely with GAIP to provide strategic direction, governance, and oversight to ensure GAIP continues to excel in its industry and deliver value to its stakeholders.
